Texas Property Brokers, LLC was established in the Summer of 2005 by Brandon and Rena Arnold to retain as much of our real estate commission as possible. I felt it was absurd that I had to pay a broker 40% of that hard earned commission, plus a franchise fee, plus a monthly fee, I think there was also a water and paper fee, and then there were the Tuesday sales meetings, the quotas... I didn't get anything from the broker, other than the service of holding my license and providing me a CDA when it was time for their split. Other than the two above mentioned things, anything I was getting from them I could get for free or low cost from my national, state and local board of Realtor membership. I definitely didn't get 40% worth from that broker.
I knew I could start my own brokerage, keep all my commission and have no mandatory meetings. It made sense to me to establish my own brokerage. So, I got my brokers license, formed an entity and away we went.
We primarily operated Texas Property Brokers as a means to keep more of what we earned until 2009. In 2009 I started holding agents license out of necessity. The housing market was not in a good place and I needed steady pay that real estate sales were not providing, the market was crap. I knew other agents were struggling with low sales volume I could hold agents license for monthly fee and that I what I started doing.
From that necessity I found not only what I was good at, but what I truly enjoyed and had a passion for. I love being a broker. Or, what I envisioned a broker to be. Someone that is there for you when you're not quite sure which direction to go and you need a little guidance. Don't get me wrong as a broker we have more responsibilities assigned to us by TREC. Ultimately though, we are there as a support and a guide for the agent on their real estate journey.
